Lincoln Memorial University’s Arts in the Gap summer workshop series concluded July 24 after 11 weeks of hands-on learning, bringing together more than 240 participants for more than 40 workshops and events celebrating creativity, craftsmanship and community.
The annual series offered participants of all skill levels the opportunity to explore a wide range of creative workshops under the guidance of experienced instructors. Throughout the summer, attendees created pottery, handmade brooms, paintings, drawings, prints, herbal products and other works while learning new techniques in a welcoming environment.
“We want to thank all our incredible instructors for helping make this summer the best one yet. With over 40 events and workshops, over 240 participants and over 20 instructors, it was a fun-packed summer. Participants got to make pottery, brooms, paintings, drawings, prints, herbal goodies and more. We can’t thank our community and LMU for their support of our program enough. Without you all, we wouldn’t be as successful as we are,” said Grace Mahieu.
The workshop series featured more than 20 instructors who shared their knowledge and expertise across a diverse selection of creative experiences designed to engage participants from across the region. The program continues to support LMU’s mission of serving Appalachia by providing educational and cultural opportunities that connect the university with the surrounding community.
